Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Vancouver Chapter
Volunteer - Professional Development Committee
The Professional Development Committee plans and organizes educational, training and networking opportunities throughout the year for AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter members and others working in the fundraising sector. We focus on offering events that address current issues in fundraising as well as issues that affect the local fundraising community in particular.
I had the honour of receiving a scholarship to attend the Fundamentals of Fundraising course provided by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Vancouver Chapter. Receiving the scholarship meant so much to me, and the course far exceeded my expectations.
The emphasis on relationship building, mission alignment, and meaningful impact was consistently and passionately conveyed by all instructors. This deeply resonated with me and further inspired my commitment to pursuing a career in fundraising.
I am now an AFP member and look forward to exploring the mentorship opportunities available through the association. I was particularly inspired by how closely fundraising principles align with project management fundamentals, and I intend to integrate what I’ve learned into all my future projects.

Upholstery & Sculpture
Torhamvan/Ferryland
by Donald Lawrence, created for a solo exhibition curated by Jenifer Papararo at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver BC, 2005
It was an extreme honour to work as Don’s assistant to help bring his art to life: a sculptural recreation of ship wreckage, that was built on campus at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops BC, then transported and reassembled inside the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver BC.
Completion of Meta’s Introduction to Social Media Marketing via Coursera is a valuable augmentation to my extensive experience with social media marketing via my brands Ora Leather Goods and Aro Upholstery. I look forward to integrating new skills and progressing within this realm of marketing, and applying this education and experience to future projects as well.

Womenswear Design, Voleurz
As the womenswear designer for Voleurz, I completed technical designs and oversaw production of multi-seasonal projects while working alongside the menswear team, and travelling twice annually to Hong Kong for factory liaison duties as well as fabric sourcing, and sample adjustments via Tech Pack illustrations and hands-on fittings.
Since 2013 I have volunteered as a DONA (Doula's of North America) trained birth doula for families in Vancouver and in Powell River, because I believe strongly in women supporting women, and the positive outcomes of support in this incredible journey of both motherhood/parenting and a child development.
