Philanthropy and community service are not separate from my creative and professional life: they are woven through it, the same way nature, craft, and intention are.

I am an AFP member, I am actively working toward my CFRE designation, and this year I will be leading fundraising and stewardship for the Nanaimo CIBC Run for the Cure. The communities I serve shape everything I do.

Canadian Cancer Society, CIBC Run for the Cure Nanaimo BC

Fundraising & Stewardship Lead

May–October 2026

The CIBC Run for the Cure is the Canadian Cancer Society's largest national fundraiser for breast cancer research, and one of the most community-rooted events in the country. Beginning May 2026 I am leading fundraising and stewardship for the Nanaimo run, with the event taking place October 4th 2026.

This role brings together everything I care about: donor stewardship, community engagement, volunteer coordination, and the kind of relationship-centred fundraising that creates lasting impact beyond a single event.

Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Vancouver Chapter

Volunteer - Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee plans and organizes educational, training and networking opportunities throughout the year for AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter members and others working in the fundraising sector. We focus on offering events that address current issues in fundraising as well as issues that affect the local fundraising community in particular.

I had the honour of receiving a scholarship to attend the Fundamentals of Fundraising course provided by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Vancouver Chapter. Receiving the scholarship meant so much to me, and the course far exceeded my expectations.

The emphasis on relationship building, mission alignment, and meaningful impact was consistently and passionately conveyed by all instructors. This deeply resonated with me and further inspired my commitment to pursuing a career in fundraising.

I am now an AFP member and look forward to exploring the mentorship opportunities available through the association. I was particularly inspired by how closely fundraising principles align with project management fundamentals, and I intend to integrate what I’ve learned into all my future projects.

PHS Community Services Society - DURC Community Resource Centre

Coordinator

Vancouver, BC · 2011–2013

This work is the foundation of my commitment to the nonprofit sector. It shaped how I understand community, what ethical service delivery looks like in practice, and why relationship-centred fundraising matters.

PHS Community Services Society is one of Vancouver's largest social services organizations, operating in the Downtown Eastside. As a Coordinator at the DURC Community Resource Centre, I supported frontline community programs serving up to 1,000 people daily, coordinating volunteers and peer workers, applying trauma-informed and equity-centred practice, assisting with grant writing and event planning, and facilitating access to services through collaboration across internal teams and community partners.

Since 2013 I have volunteered as a DONA (Doula's of North America) trained birth doula for families in Vancouver and in Powell River, because I believe strongly in women supporting women, and the positive outcomes of support in this incredible journey of both motherhood/parenting and a child development.
